Business Storytelling Photography
Show people what your business really feels like.
Your business is more than a logo, a storefront, or a product on a shelf. It’s the people behind the work, the process that goes into it, the customers you serve, and the moments that make your business yours.
I create authentic, story-driven photography for small businesses, makers, artists, nonprofits, and local organizations that want imagery with personality and purpose. Whether you’re working at a farmers market, creating in a studio, serving customers, preparing food, or simply doing what you do best, I’ll help capture the people, details, and atmosphere that tell your story.
The result is a collection of professional images you can use across your website, social media, marketing, and other promotional materials—without making your business look staged or generic.
What I Capture
Business storytelling sessions are built around the way your business actually works. Depending on the project, coverage might include:
You and your team at work
Behind-the-scenes moments
Products being made, prepared, or used
Customer interactions
Your workspace, storefront, studio, kitchen, or booth
Details that help define your brand
Events, markets, pop-ups, and community involvement
Environmental portraits of owners, staff, or makers
Candid moments that show the personality behind the business
Images created specifically for websites, social media, and marketing
Examples of Business Storytelling Sessions
A storytelling session might look like:
Following a food vendor through a busy farmers market—from setup and preparation to serving customers
Photographing a maker or artist working in their studio and capturing the process behind what they create
Documenting a restaurant or café during service, including the people, food, atmosphere, and customer experience
Creating a library of authentic images for a small business launching a new website or refreshing its social media
Photographing a nonprofit or community organization during a program, event, or outreach activity
Spending time with a service-based business to capture the people and work behind what their customers normally only see as the finished result
Every business is different, so the session is shaped around what you want people to understand, notice, and remember about yours.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of businesses do you work with?
Business storytelling can work for almost any small business or organization with a story to tell. That might include makers, artists, restaurants, food vendors, farms, retailers, service businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, and other locally owned businesses.
If you're not sure whether your business is a good fit, reach out and tell me what you have in mind.
How is business storytelling different from traditional business photography?
Rather than focusing primarily on posed headshots or photographs of products against a blank background, business storytelling is about showing your business in action.
The goal is to capture the people, process, environment, interactions, and details that help customers understand what your business is really like.
Do I need to know exactly what photographs I want?
Not at all.
We'll talk before the session about your business, how you plan to use the photographs, and what you'd like people to understand about what you do. From there, we can develop a plan for what makes sense to capture.
You don't need to arrive with a detailed shot list.
Can you photograph an event, farmers market, or pop-up?
Absolutely. Events, markets, demonstrations, pop-ups, and other public-facing activities can be great opportunities to tell the story of a business in a natural setting.
We'll talk about the event, timing, location, and the moments that are most important to you before the session.
Can you take portraits of me or my employees during the session?
Yes. Environmental portraits can be incorporated into a business storytelling session when they're useful to the project.
These are typically more natural portraits created in your workplace or another environment connected to your business rather than a traditional studio headshot session.
How can I use the photographs?
Business storytelling photographs can be created for use on your website, social media, marketing materials, advertising, promotional campaigns, and other business communications.
Because these photographs are being created for commercial use, we'll discuss how you intend to use them before the project and include the appropriate usage rights in your agreement.
How much does a business storytelling session cost?
Business storytelling sessions start at $300.
Final pricing depends on the scope of the project, including the amount of coverage, location, complexity of the session, and how the photographs will be used.
Once I understand what you're looking for, I'll provide a proposal before we move forward.
Do you travel to my business?
Yes. In most cases, I'll photograph you where the story actually happens—your shop, studio, kitchen, workshop, office, market booth, event, or another location connected to your work.
Travel requirements will be discussed as part of the project and included in your proposal when applicable.
How are the photographs delivered?
You'll receive a curated collection of professionally edited, high-resolution digital photographs.
The exact delivery method and expected timeline will be outlined as part of your project agreement.
Do you offer prints?
Business storytelling sessions are focused on providing digital files for your business to use across its website, social media, marketing, and other communications.
If you'd like physical prints or display pieces made from the photographs, I'm happy to recommend printing options.
How do we get started?
Tell me a little about your business, what you do, what you'd like photographed, and how you hope to use the images.
We'll start with a conversation, determine the right scope for the project, and I'll put together a proposal based on what you need.
