Portrait Photography
Relaxed, natural portraits that feel like you.
Portrait sessions are designed for people who want photographs that feel natural, comfortable, and genuinely like them.
Whether you’re updating a professional profile, celebrating a graduation, building a personal brand, or simply want a portrait you actually like, we’ll create a relaxed session around what you’re looking for.
You don’t need to know how to pose or arrive with a long list of ideas. I’ll help guide you through the session while keeping the focus on natural expressions, comfortable movement, and photographs that don’t feel overly staged.
What I Capture
Portrait sessions are built around the person, the setting, and what you want the photographs to say about you.
Depending on the session, that might include:
Natural individual portraits
Professional headshots with a relaxed feel
Senior and graduation portraits
Personal branding images
Environmental portraits in a meaningful location
Candid and lightly guided moments
A mix of close-up, mid-length, and wider portraits
Images created for personal, professional, or promotional use
Examples of Portrait Sessions
A portrait session might look like:
Updating your LinkedIn profile or professional website with a portrait that feels polished without looking overly corporate
Celebrating a high school or college graduation with portraits in a location that feels meaningful
Creating a set of images for a small business owner who wants to show the person behind the business
Photographing an artist, musician, creator, or professional in an environment connected to their work
Creating relaxed outdoor portraits simply because you want photographs of yourself that you actually like
Building a small library of personal branding images for use across social media, a website, speaking engagements, or other professional platforms
Every session is a little different, so we'll talk about what you're looking for and choose a location and approach that fits the kind of portraits you want.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who are portrait sessions for?
Portrait sessions are designed for individuals who want natural, relaxed photographs for personal or professional use.
That can include seniors and graduates, professionals, small business owners, artists, creators, or anyone who simply wants a set of portraits that feels like them.
Do I need to know how to pose?
Not at all.
I'll guide you throughout the session with simple direction for posture, movement, positioning, and expression. The goal is to help you feel comfortable without making the photographs look stiff or overly posed.
Where do portrait sessions take place?
Most sessions are photographed on location rather than in a studio.
We'll choose a setting that fits the look you're after, whether that's outdoors, around town, at your workplace, or somewhere personally meaningful.
Local session pricing includes locations within Chittenden and Franklin Counties. Additional travel can be quoted if you have another location in mind.
What should I wear?
Wear something that feels like you and fits the purpose of the session.
Before your session, I'm happy to help you think through clothing choices, colors, or whether bringing an additional outfit would make sense for the photographs you're trying to create.
Can I change outfits during the session?
Usually, yes.
A quick outfit change can work well during a one-hour session, especially for senior portraits, personal branding, or sessions where you'd like both casual and more polished images.
We'll plan for that ahead of time so we can use the session time well.
How many photographs will I receive?
I don't promise a specific image count.
You'll receive a curated collection of the strongest photographs from your session, professionally edited and delivered in high resolution.
How will I receive my photographs?
Finished photographs are delivered digitally through a private online gallery where you can view and download your images.
The expected delivery timeline will be discussed before your session.
Can I print the photographs myself?
Yes.
Your session includes high-resolution digital files with personal-use rights, so you're welcome to make prints for yourself, family, and friends.
I don't require you to purchase prints through me, but I'm happy to recommend trusted printing options if you'd like help getting the best results.
Can I use the photographs for my business or professional profile?
Absolutely for things like a LinkedIn profile, résumé, professional biography, speaker profile, or other personal professional use.
If the session is primarily being created for broader business marketing, advertising, or commercial use, Business Storytelling Photography may be a better fit. We'll talk through how you plan to use the images and make sure you're booking the right service.
Can someone else join my portrait session?
The standard portrait session is designed and priced for one person.
If you'd like to include another person or have something different in mind, reach out and tell me what you're looking for. We can determine whether the portrait session still makes sense or whether a custom session would be a better fit.
What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
Because many portrait sessions take place outdoors, weather sometimes requires flexibility.
If conditions aren't suitable for the kind of session we've planned, we'll work together to reschedule or adjust the location when appropriate.
How do I get started?
Tell me a little about yourself, what you'd like the portraits for, and any ideas you already have for the session.
From there, we'll talk through the location, timing, and approach and make sure the session fits what you're looking for.
